Shaping Careers

Building Futures

We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to learn about the careers within the built environment and have access to the resources and support needed to pursue them.

WHAT WE DO

Our Mission

To create a pipeline of diverse talent through our school outreach, promote sector-wide collaboration, and provide support for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds who may encounter barriers when entering the sector.

BUILDING FUTURES

Our Work

At the heart of our mission are three key initiatives designed to create lasting change in the built environment sector.

School Outreach

School programme to inspire the next generation to pursue a career in the sector.

Mobilise The Sector

Provide support to employers and professionals to maximise their school outreach.

Support The Individual

We provide bursaries helping individuals from diverse backgrounds overcome entry barriers.

SHAPING CAREERS

Testimonials

"Being formally assessed for dyslexia and the support that has been provided has improved my studying ability, but more than that, it has helped me come on leaps and bounds in confidence."

BSC Building Control Apprentice

UCEM

"At school I struggled massively with education and worked extra hard to keep up. I found ways to help myself with my learning but these were not really effective at this higher level. After having my dyslexia assessment (funded by BEST) I understand how I work and how I can use new tools and methods to improve my learning which has made all the difference."

BSc Real Estate Apprentice

UCEM

"Students found MEMF really engaging, well presented and thorough resources suitable for GCSE aged students. The links to careers education were also extremely valuable and helped my school fulfil Gatsby benchmark requirements. I hope they release more content!”

Head of Geography

John Mason School

"Discussing a variety of careers in the built environment and showing pupils how creative and exciting working in this sector can be. Our GCSE uptake for next year has increased from 46% to 59% with many pupils expressing how they equate geography as a subject with a tangible career path for their future.”

Head of Geography

Dunottar School

"MEMF was not only great for getting creative, and working as a team, but also introduced us to a whole new set of potential career paths."

Year 9 Student

"I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of MEMF as a whole. The activities were fun and am grateful for the time that the surveyor from Gleeds gave us to provide her insight into her job."
